Stanley BALZEKAS (b.1924),
businessman, born in Chicago, Illinois, on Oct. 8, 1924. He studied
business administration at De Paul University, receiving a master’s
degree in 1951. At present he is president of Balzekas Motor Sales. In
1966 he founded in Chicago a Museum of Lithuanian Culture, the basis
for which is a collection of Lithuanian amber, coins, stamps, maps and
ethnographic exhibits gathered by M. Račkus (q.v.). The museum also
has an extensive art collection and a library (Lithuanian language,
literature, history, numismatics, archaeology, etc.). The museum from
time to time organizes art shows and other exhibitions and publishes a
non-periodic Museum Review.
